What people did with it.

★★★★★
The warm-spot chapter got me through my first winter after I lost my apartment. The 211 call in the first section had me in a bed the same week. I wish I'd had this the night it happened.
— Marcus T., Columbus, OH
★★★★★
I volunteer at a meal program and I bought copies for our whole team. Danny's chapter on talking to people without judging changed how we do outreach. It's the realest thing I've read on this.
— Rachel P., Sacramento, CA
★★★★★
The free-tax-help tip alone got me a $1,900 refund I never knew I could claim. That was my deposit on a room. This book paid for itself a hundred times over.

About the author

Danny Rourke

I'm Danny Rourke. I spent six years on the street after a layoff turned into an eviction turned into a bad year that kept going. Six winters outside taught me things nobody puts in a pamphlet — where the warm air comes out of a building at 3 a.m., how to keep one pair of boots dry, which church basement means it when they say come as you are. A guy who'd been there helped me back up. Now I run outreach in my city and host Street Smart Survival. I wrote this so nobody has to learn it the way I did — alone, in the cold.

Questions

Before you decide.

Is this only for people who are already homeless?

No. Plenty of readers are one bad month away and want to know they could get through it — and outreach workers and family members use it to help someone they love. It's for anyone who wants to be ready.

Is any of this illegal or sketchy?

None of it. Every method is legal, honest, and safe. I don't teach anything I wouldn't do standing next to a police officer. Dignity and staying out of trouble are the whole point.

Does the book work outside big cities?

Yes. The Free Resources Finder Sheet shows you how to find shelters, meals, clinics, and mail service in any US town — 211 and the library work just about everywhere.

Are you a doctor or a financial advisor?

No. I'm a guy who lived it for six years and now works outreach. I share what worked for me and point you to the free professionals — clinics, legal aid, benefits offices — who can help with the rest.

Will this help me get off the street for good?

I can't promise anyone a specific outcome — every situation is different. What I can do is share the exact steps that got me from a doorway to my own door, plainly, so you have a road to follow.

Why is it cheaper right now?

This is the launch price. It's going up after the introductory run, and the five bonuses come free during launch — after that they may be sold separately.

Last call

Knowing you could get through it

This is the launch price with all five bonuses free. Both go up after the introductory run. Being ready shouldn't wait until the night you need it.
